Young Thug and YSL RICO trial: Defence attorney warns trial could run for three years

Defence attorney concerned about speed of trial

A defense attorney in the Young Thug and YSL RICO case has cautioned that the ongoing trial could take years. The prosecution initially had 700 witnesses listed but later reduced the number to 400 and so far, only 40 witnesses have testified. This rate could see the trial cross into 2027. The defense argues that this will violate the sixth ammendment which stipulates the defendant’s right to a speedy trial.

According to HipHopDX, the defence filled a motion on Tuesday (March 19) that called for a “detailed explanation of the expected testimony of each respective witness and an explanation of how that witness’ proposed testimony is not cumulative of other witnesses nor causing undue delay nor a waste of time.”
