Hov gains some advantage over Dame in Roc-A-Fella legal dispute
JAY-Z has marked a minor victory in his legal tussle with Dame Dash over control of Roc-A-Fella Records, since Dash’s stake in the company, which is one-third, will now be liquidated.
According to Billboard, Judge Robert W. Lehrburger refused to rule on the issues of copyright law about whether the rights to Reasonable Doubt will revert to JAY-Z in 2031.
In a separate case, the judge refused New York City’s request to look into Roc-A-Fella’s finances, saying that those inquiries were not the business of the court.
Consequently, the matter of the rights to JAY-Z’s first album still hangs in the balance whilst the court-ordered sale of Dash’s Roc-A-Fella interests is set to commence next month.
