Fat Joe Refuses to Drop ‘Fat’ from His Stage Name Despite 200-Pound Weight Loss

Fat Joe has reacted to the rumors surrounding his stage name following a massive 200-pound weight loss, which he partially attributes to the use of Ozempic

In a recent interview with Big Boy, the rapper discussed his weight loss journey and how it might affect his iconic name. He explained that the death of his friend inspired him to make drastic changes in his life, including exercising and diet. “I went on super lose weight mode… I call it crackhead mode,” he said.

He was asked if he’d consider dropping “Fat” from his name, similar to how Jeezy (formerly Young Jeezy) did. Fat Joe was quite adamant. He said his stage name now cannot be divorced from his person at all. “We’ve spent millions of dollars building up Fat Joe,” he said. “If they just said, ‘rapper Joe,’ you wouldn’t know who the hell that is.”

Fat Joe made a point of keeping the Fat Joe tag, branding it as very much part of his identity, albeit he transformed.
