GloRilla donated $25,000 to her alma mater, Melrose High School, to fund a new media center
GloRilla continues to donate to her community, as she recently made a $25,000 endowment to her former school, the Melrose High School in Memphis. The rapper, who has had a breakout year in the music industry, surprised students and staff on Wednesday, December 18, announcing her contribution to fund the new media center for the school’s library.
The media center will be named Gloria H. Woods Media Center to recognize GloRilla’s contribution as a way for the rapper to pay homage to her birthplace and become part of history with this touching tribute. This memorial is significant for the artist, who remembered when she was a Melrose student and wished for a better library setup.
About her donation, the artist said: “As a child, I always thought about a library like this one. To be able to do it now warms my heart.” According to the rapper.
The surprise visit of the rapper was quite the reality check for the students, who didn’t know she would show up at the scene. GloRilla’s deed exhibits the grace with which she has achieved success and her determination to improve the learning environments for the following young generation.
