The night of the 38th Grammy Awards on February 28, 1996, Naughty by Nature‘s 1995 album Poverty’s Paradise won the first Grammy ever for Best Rap Album. Naughty by Nature’s fourth album “Poverty’s Paradise” was the first album to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys.

2Pac‘s Me Against the World, Ol Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s E. 1999 Eternal and Skee-Lo’s I Wish were all nominated in the 1996 Best Rap Album category but Naughty by Nature’s album “Poverty’s Paradise” won. The album Poverty’s Paradise peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart.
