Cypress Hill recorded their sophomore album under the influence of shrooms

Legendary hip hop group Cypress Hill recently revealed how they recorded their sophomore album, Black Sunday, during an interview with HipHopDX. The group was asked if they could recall the process of creating the album, and they shared that they can hardly remember since they were high on mushrooms while recording it.

“We were on mushrooms,” B-Real said. “I remember doing the last song — well, the last song at the time — which was ‘We Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That.’ We had recorded everything previously. Muggs and I were in NY for about a month or two, and then, we brought Sen Dog out the last two weeks to fill in the blanks.”

He added, “And, as you know, we got caught up with everything. Somebody gave us too much ‘shrooms. And we fuckin’ popped them. That was something we were known to do.”

The group will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album on July 30.
