Authorities say the filming was only for social media purposes

Drake gave his New York fans a memorable weekend with his two-night shows at the Apollo Theater where he brought out the likes of the Dipset and Lil Uzi Vert. However, the thrilled fans were surprised to find that police officers were filming them as they left the venue, leading some to believe that the cops were using face recognition software to identify potential criminals. A clip has been making rounds showing how the officers were filming the attendees.

In response, the office of Deputy Commissioner of Public Information told Consequence that the filming was solely for a forthcoming social media event involving public events. “The officer depicted in the video is a Community Affairs officer involved with the 28th Precinct’s social media team,” they stated. “The officer was taking video for an upcoming Twitter post that will highlight local community events. The video will not be utilized for any other reason.”

Per a journalist from New York Dailly News, mayor Eric Adams, who was present at the concert, responded to the issue by stating, “Twitter is not real.”
