Rapper reflects on grief, brotherhood, and healing tensions with Quavo on new album
Offset opens up about the pain of losing Takeoff on his heartfelt new song “Never Let Go”, taken from his latest album KIARA. The deeply personal track sees the former Migos rapper processing grief and regret over the death of his cousin and groupmate.
“Play back all the memories, hoping they don’t fade / Bando to the jet, jet to the stage / Hard to see my n-gga in that grave, this shit crazy / I give all this shit back just to get you back,” he raps, baring the emotional weight of his loss.
He continues: “Can’t trust these n-ggas, fuck ’em, how I’m supposed to get over you? / Ain’t been the same ’cause this pain fuck up everything.”
Beyond the music, Offset has also opened up about mending his relationship with Quavo, the third member of the Migos trio. In interviews with Apple Music and 7PM in Brooklyn, Offset acknowledged his role in their estrangement and shared that their bond is improving.
“It’s possible” they’ll make new music together, he told Ebro, adding: “That’s family… I was wrong, and I had to get out of the way. I’m happy now, and I want the best.”
