Bryson Tiller Explains Why He Never Signed to Drake’s OVO Sound: “He Just Didn’t Hit Me Back”

R&B star says timing and uncertainty led him to RCA instead

Bryson Tiller has opened up about a major turning point in his career — choosing not to sign with Drake’s OVO Sound despite being a longtime fan of the Toronto superstar.

In a candid interview on the New Rory & Mal podcast, Tiller revealed he had every intention of joining OVO, but a lack of direct communication from Drake ultimately pushed him toward RCA Records.

“I’m being so blunt. Honest,” Tiller said. “The only reason I didn’t sign [to OVO] is just because bro didn’t hit me back one time.”

At the time, RCA was aggressively pursuing the young singer. “They was hounding me, they was flying me [out], they was trying to get me away from Drake,” he explained. Despite his admiration for Drake’s music — calling him a key part of his “musical DNA” — Tiller admitted feeling blindsided when his team locked in the RCA deal. “I was pissed about it.”

Tiller also revealed he messaged Drake before making his final decision but never got a reply. “I know he’s a super busy dude,” he added. “But I had a kid. I had to go with what was the most sure shot.”

He later reflected, “I thought signing to OVO was God’s plan. But everything just went differently.”

Snoop Dogg Backs Wife’s New LA Strip Club: “I Show Up, I Throw Money”

Rapper also celebrates becoming co-owner of UK football club Swansea City

Snoop Dogg has revealed his full support for his wife Shante Broadus’ latest business venture — a strip club in Los Angeles called The Players Club.

During a recent appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, the rap icon spoke candidly about his reaction when Shante told him she bought the club. “It shocked me,” Snoop admitted. “I was like, ‘A strip club? Oh wow, honey, I’ll support it.’”

He went on to explain how he shows that support: “What do I do? I say, ‘What the hell is you doing?!’ I support. I show up. I throw money in the air. You understand what I’m saying? I support you! Because she supported me when I was going through something… that I felt like was fun and fly.”

Snoop’s entrepreneurial streak doesn’t stop at strip clubs. He recently announced his stake in Welsh football team Swansea City, saying in a video: “I’m not a player, I’m an owner… Swansea City, baby, let’s go!”

In a statement, Snoop added: “This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Chance the Rapper and Ice Cube Condemn Widespread ICE Raids: “We’re at the Fall of Empire”

Artists speak out against aggressive immigration enforcement under Trump-era policies

Chance the Rapper has fiercely criticized the ongoing immigration raids taking place across Los Angeles and other U.S. cities, calling the actions of ICE “disgusting” and a betrayal of the country’s revolutionary roots.

Appearing on The Cruz Show, the Chicago native said, “We’re a country built on fighting the system and fighting the power… and sometimes I think we forget that.” Reflecting on his upbringing, Chance added, “We were 14 years old, rocking keffiyehs and saying ‘Free Palestine.’ That’s how we grew up. Like, we are radical children that just happen to be in our 30s now.”

He warned that America is at a critical turning point: “It’s late in the game. We’re at the fall of empire right now.” Acknowledging the personal cost of activism, he admitted, “One day I’m going to have to give my physical body to the revolution. I hope it’s not soon—I got young kids.”

Fellow rapper and actor Ice Cube also condemned the federal government’s tactics, saying, “To see people disrespected like that… going to churches and weddings and grabbing people out of schools—come on, man. Y’all just overdoing it.”

Both artists called for urgent accountability and systemic change.

Young Dolph Murder Trial Update: Hernandez Govan Found Not Guilty

Alleged mastermind walks free as jury returns verdict after just three hours

Hernandez Govan, the man once accused of orchestrating the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, has been found not guilty. After deliberating for only three hours, the jury rejected the prosecution’s claims that Govan was the mastermind behind the fatal 2021 shooting.

Speaking outside the courthouse following his release, Govan expressed relief and gratitude: “Thank you to the jury for getting this right and getting my life back. I knew in my heart I was innocent.” He added, “It just feels like I’ve been born again. I get a chance to restart my life and do some positive things.”

While Govan walks free, Justin Johnson, who was convicted of pulling the trigger, remains behind bars, serving a life sentence. Johnson recently filed a motion for a new trial, claiming “insufficient evidence,” which prompted a heartfelt response from Dolph’s fiancée, Mia Jaye.

“It’s infuriating,” she wrote via her Black Men Deserve To Grow Old platform. “We will keep fighting for justice and honor the memory of Adolph.”

Johnson’s motion was ultimately denied. A third suspect, Shundale Barnett, had charges dropped earlier this year due to a clerical error, with authorities confirming he had no involvement in the murder.

Tyler, The Creator Reveals 2025 Camp Flog Gnaw Lineup with Word Search Puzzle

Festival returns to Dodger Stadium with A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino, Clipse, and more

Tyler, The Creator has unveiled the official lineup for his 2025 Camp Flog Gnaw festival — and he did it in true Tyler fashion. Instead of a traditional flyer or announcement, fans had to solve a word search puzzle on the festival’s website to discover who’s performing.

The star-studded lineup includes A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino, Doechii, T-Pain, and Clipse, as well as Tyler himself. Several Odd Future alumni will also grace the stage, including Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G, and Left Brain.

Camp Flog Gnaw 2025 is set for November 15–16 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, marking another highly anticipated edition of the genre-blending, youth-driven music festival.

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Tyler shared insights into his creative process, emphasizing spontaneity over perfection. “Sometimes, man, that song is good. Just put that bitch out,” he said, speaking against the pressure of over-perfectionism.

“I just wanna make stuff and put it out like when I was 17,” Tyler added, capturing the free-spirited ethos that continues to define both his music and his festival.

Logic Says He Can No Longer Speak to His Mother: “She’s Just a Mentally Ill Person”

Rapper opens up about painful childhood, estranged parents in emotional interview

Logic has revealed that he is no longer in contact with his mother and hasn’t seen her in over a decade, describing their relationship as irreparably broken due to her mental health struggles and a history of trauma.

In a raw and emotional appearance on The Adam Friedland Show, the rapper reflected on his upbringing, saying, “One of the last times I had spoken to my mom was on my 21st birthday… She’s just a mentally ill person.”

He recalled one of their last encounters during his teenage years, saying: “She was like covered in blood and naked and screaming and the police were there. It was a whole thing.”

Logic previously detailed his painful past on the 2012 track “Dear God,” where he claimed his mother tried to kill him when he was nine.

His relationship with his father has also been strained. On his podcast last year, Logic emotionally confronted his father’s absence due to crack addiction. “There is still that little boy that’s still waiting on the curb,” he said through tears.

Despite the deep wounds, Logic says he’s worked to let go of anger — but the scars clearly remain.

JAY-Z and Dame Dash Rift “Beyond Repair,” Says Memphis Bleek

Former Roc-A-Fella rapper claims personal lines were crossed that can’t be undone

In a recent appearance on Drink Champs, former Roc-A-Fella Records artist Memphis Bleek addressed the long-standing fallout between JAY-Z and Dame Dash, declaring their relationship irreparably broken. According to Bleek, public jabs and deeply personal attacks have sealed the fate of any reconciliation.

“I feel like a line was crossed, man,” Bleek said. “Them Art of Dialogue interviews—when you speak on a man’s kids, his integrity—there’s no return from that, bro.”

The rapper emphasized the damage caused by Dash’s comments while Jay faced legal and personal challenges, stating it would be impossible to even initiate a conversation about reconciliation.

Dame Dash, for his part, hasn’t held back in recent interviews. Speaking with The Art of Dialogue, Dash alleged that JAY-Z ghostwrote Bleek’s lyrics and questioned Bleek’s ambition. “I probably shouldn’t have said that,” he admitted, “but he’s been talking about me lately.”

Dash also claimed he pushed Bleek harder than Bleek pushed himself: “I personally think I wanted more for Bleek than Bleek wanted for himself.”

With harsh words exchanged on both sides, the once-powerful Roc-A-Fella dynasty seems further from unity than ever.

Kendrick Lamar Lights Up Toronto with “Not Like Us” as Drake Postpones Livestream

Rap beef spills into real life as Kendrick plays rival’s hometown while Drake delays Kai Cenat collab

Kendrick Lamar made a bold statement in Drake’s hometown of Toronto, performing his now-iconic diss track “Not Like Us” to a roaring crowd at the Rogers Centre. The performance marked Kendrick’s first time in the city since the pair’s feud reignited in 2024—and he made it clear he wasn’t backing down.

Lamar, currently co-headlining the Grand Central Tour with SZA, stuck to his uncompromising setlist, pulling no punches during the show. Fans inside the stadium erupted during “Not Like Us,” chanting for an encore by the time Kendrick exited the stage.

Meanwhile, Drake had planned to counter the moment with a Twitch livestream alongside internet sensation Kai Cenat, where they were set to announce winners of their “Somebody Loves Me” video challenge. But the highly anticipated stream—scheduled at the same time as Kendrick’s performance—was postponed at the last minute.

Cenat later confirmed Drake would have been joining him to give away $15,000 each to 20 fans for their creative video ideas. Despite the delay, the final video for “Somebody Loves Me” will still feature clips directed by fans.

Interestingly, Cenat recently critiqued Drake’s video for “Nokia,” saying, “Music video, not a banger,” before offering his own arcade-themed concept during a livestream.

As the rivalry continues to unfold both onstage and online, fans are closely watching for Drake’s next move—especially after Kendrick’s dominant Toronto takeover.
