Rich The Kid was once part of TDE
Rich The Kid has come a long way in the rap game, and has consequently worked with multiple labels in his career. What many don’t know is that he was once signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, his gateway to Interscope. The rapper confirmed this during a recent interview on Bootleg TV.
This also explains how he was able to land a collab with Kendrick Lamar with “New Freezer.” “When I first met Kendrick Lamar I was recording my album in one room, Kendrick was recording his album in one room, SZA was recording her album in another room,” Rich said after he was asked about his relationship with TDE. “And then one day they came in like ‘yo, Kendrick wants to hear like some new records,’ I played him ‘New Freezer’ and his was like ‘yeah.’”
Some of Rich’s earlier songs like “Plug Walk” and “Cocaina” were released via TDE and Interscope.
