Spotify‘s CEO Daniel EK has been deposed by a federal judge in a lawsuit concerning Eminem‘s music copyrights.
As Billboard reports, Magistrate Judge Jeffery S. Frensley said despite being busy, Daniel should create time and attention to address the issue. This is after the company previously claimed Daniel was too occupied to address the issue.

“Undoubtedly Mr. Ek has a full schedule [and] the Court credits Spotify’s assertion that he is very busy indeed,” Judge Frensley’s report read. “Yet, the issue of proper licensing relationships with the artists whose work comprises the entirety of Spotify’s business and its sole product is surely also a matter of importance to Spotify, worthy of some of Mr. Ek’s time and attention.”
Eminem’s Eight Mile company sued Spotify in 2019 claiming the platform had streamed the rapper’s music ‘’billions of times” devoid of proper licensing, which is against 2018’s Music Modernization Act.
