This week, The Weeknd set a new record for Billboard‘s R&B Singles chart. The Toronto singer’s song “Blinding Lights” took the top spot for the past 21 weeks, topping fellow Canadian Drake‘s 2016 hit “One Dance.” In a three-way tie, Bruno Mars‘ “What I Like” and The Weeknd‘s own “Starboy” all spent 20 weeks on top along with Drake prior to the new record being set.
The crooner recently released a posthumous duet with fellow singer Juice WRLD. The Chicago artist has had a banner year since his untimely passing in December of 2019. The song is called “Smile” and it is the latest release from both artists. “Blinding Lights” is from the this year’s chart-topping album After Hours.
