Wale sparked a movement last year releasing his song “Sue Me” featuring Kelly Price, which was one of his hit tracks from Wow… That’s Crazy. Today, he released a thought-provoking visual dedicated to Black culture.
The 8-minute Kerby Jean-Raymond-directed video walks viewers through the life of a Black person in America. Honey Boy and Manchester by the Sea actor, Lucas Hedges also makes an appearance.
“What if you could walk through a day in the life of an average African American young man? What would you see? What would you hear? What would you face? We wanted to redefine the whole narrative and allow everybody to step into these shoes,” shared Wale in regards to the video’s vision.
The video references a scene from the controversial incident that took place at a Philadelphia Starbucks two years ago, where two young black men were kicked out.
