    YFN Lucci’s RICO trial to begin on January 8, according to multiple reports. The rapper’s case has been linked to Young Thug YSL RICO case whose trial is ongoing.

    Lucci surrendered himself to the police in 2021 after being hit with RICO charges. He is also facing felony murder, aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

    Back in June, he was offered a 20-year plea deal but he rejected it.

    Young Thug and co-defendant Yak Gotti appeared in court on Friday (July 21) for a bond hearing, but the judge did not grant them, according to ABC News. This is the fourth time Thug has been denied bond since he was arrested on RICO charges over a year ago.

    The Business is Business rapper’s attorney Brian Steele told ABC News that his client is not a flight risk and that he is not in a good health condition. “Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he’s not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that’s what bond is about,” Steele said, adding that Thug is “sleep-deprived.”

    Former G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo believes Young Thug will overcome his legal woes and come home. In an interview on VladTV released this week, Yayo explained that the case has been a “clusterfuck” because of Jeffrey’s popularity.

    “Thug coming home, man,” Yayo declared. “The case … it sounds like a clusterfuck, man. Free Young Thug, man. And you know, it’s like, when you look at the shit, it’s like, he’s a high-profile guy. So, it’s a clusterfuck. You know?”

    He continued, “Even moving them around, it’s like, he’s high-profile. This is everyday shit, though … It’ll just make the news because you’ll hear ‘YSL.”

    Gunna released his new album, a Gift & a Curse, on Friday (June 16) with zero features. On the fifth song, “Ca$h $hit,” Wunna demands the release of his mentor and label head Young Thug, who is currently in custody battling a RICO case involving his YSL imprint.

    “You niggas broke and it’s just loaf, don’t really care though (Nah), Hide the barrel, man, free my bro Jeffro, Back to business, it’s way more dinero (Way more dinero),” Gunna raps.

    Gunna was arrested along with Young Thug in May 2022 but was released in December after copping an Alford plea deal. The College Grove rapper has been accused by some fans and fellow rappers for snitching after admitting to the prosecutors that YSL is a “gang.”

    Thug’s RICO case reportedly sees more drama in court

    Young Thug and YSL RICO case hasn’t been short of drama during court sessions. Among controversies such as when a co-defendant handed Thug a Percocet pill inside a court room, as well as when a lawyer called “cap” while addressing the judge and others, there are reports that a potential juror is being held in contempt after allegedly calling presiding Judge Ural Glanville a “b*tch.”

    On Monday (May 1), Hip Hop Enquirer’s editor in chief Dennis Byron shared the report on twitter. “More drama erupts in the courtroom where the #YSL RICO trial is underway when a potential juror called presiding judge #UralGlanville a b*tch. The judge then held her in contempt of court. Was her comment protected under the 1st Amendment? #YoungThug,” Bryon tweeted.

    Young Thug shocked the internet on Thursday (April 27) after a link to Gunna’s music appeared on his Instagram bio. According to screenshots shared by multiple outlets like DJ Akademiks, Thug’s bio included a link to Wunna’s album, DS4Ever.

    Fans were surprised since Gunna has been accused of testifying against Young Thug and YSL when he took a plea deal and got released on bond late last year. Although Gunna received heavy backlash from his rap peers, Thug himself has never commented on the issue.

    One public defender wants to withdraw from the case

    Some of the public defenders in Young Thug and YSL case claim they are being underpaid. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, some of the defenders, including Angela D’Williams and Suri Jimenez, say they were allocated $15K each for the entire case which could last for a year.

    D’Williams, who represents Rodalius Ryan, states that the pay is “egregiously low for the amount of work and attention this trial requires.” She added: “I just want public defenders and conflict attorneys to know this is what they’re signing up for. It might consume a full year of your life.”

    Jimenez added: “We’re looking at what–$7.25 an hour,” adding, “Nobody in this country should get paid $7.25 an hour and definitely not somebody who is trying to protect the liberty of somebody else.”

    D’Williams said she tried to set up a meeting with the leadership of the public defender council to discuss a rise in pay but they declined. D’Williams filed a motion to have out of the case.

    A jury member was sentenced to three days for violating court rules

    A jury member in Young Thug’s YSL RICO case has been sentenced to three days in jail for taking a video of court proceedings. Per Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jury 1004 was taken to jail in handcuffs on Monday (April 3) after the judge accused her of filming court proceedings on March 27.

    “It wasn’t live-streamed at all,” the jury member said in her defense. “I did take a video and then the young lady next to me said I couldn’t do that.”

    She added that she isn’t familiar with jury duties and that she didn’t know filming wasn’t allowed.

    “I went through a very long and arduous process of telling people what they could not do and you violated that,” Chief Judge Ural Glanville said about the incident. “And you put this trial in jeopardy by doing that.”
