Known for his time with Young Money, Peter Cory Pankey, Jr. aka Cory Gunz is a rapper from the Bronx neighborhood of New York City. Born in 1987, Cory is the son of another rapper. That’s right, Peter Pankey Sr. is none other than Peter Gunz known for being one half of the rap duo Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz. Their 1998 hit song and BX anthem “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)” helped the group earn a Grammy nomination. Currently, Peter Gunz is a cast member on Love and Hip Hop and is the host of Cheaters, another reality show.
Cory Gunz signed his first record deal at 14 but maybe most remembered for his verse on Lil Wayne‘s “6 foot 7 foot.” He’s also worked with Rihanna, Busta Rhymes, and Nicki Minaj. His The Apprentice mixtape run helped him make a name for himself as the child of another rapper, which can be difficult.
Like his father, the Gunz starred in a reality show called “Son of a Gun” on MTV around the time he signed to Young Money. He caught a gun charge in 2012 and has kept a low profile, releasing some music afterward while on probation. He reemerged as a guest on Method Man‘s 2015 album The Meth Lab and Lil Wayne‘s 2017 Dedication 6 mixtape. Cory Gunz is known for clever word play and a fast-paced East Coast flow.
