Quincy Matthew Hanley, aka ScHoolboy Q, was born on October 26, 1986, on a military base in Germany. The TDE rapper grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and played football in college. He joined the Hoover Street Crips as a youth, that is why the “H’s” are always capitalized in his name and song titles. Around the age of 21, he started taking rap seriously and began rocking mics with fellow Black Hippy artists Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Ab-Soul.
As a solo act, he is known for his songs “Studio” and “Man of the Year” as well as others. His albums include Oxymoron, Blank Face LP, and CrasH Talk. His past as a drug dealer and gang member influence his raps and his style is West Coast, with some East Coast influences. Happy birthday, ScHoolboy Q!
