During an interview with Big Boy TV, Roddy Ricch revealed that at the age of 12 years old, he rapped for Kendrick Lamar, who at the time had just released Rigamortis. According to Roddy Ricch, Kendrick Lamar told him he was going to be something and he always kept it in the back of his mind.
“I just saw a photo of you and K. Dot”
– Big Boy says to start the topic.
“That’s my big bro, I mean, I knew him when I was young. I knew him when i was like 12 years old. This was when Rigamortis was out and I had met him and his family and he was talking to me about I rapped to him when I was little, and he had me “you gon’ be something cool”. “You gon’ be something” if you keep going right… So then later on, I’ve always kept it in the back of my head, just doing what I was doing. But I never ran in to him ever, I never seen him talk to him. People say he knew who I was at a certain point, but I was like he probably don’t remember that sh*t”, first time I get on facetime with him, he was like I’m proud of you. I remembered what I told you”
