Nas and 2Pac squashed their beef at the 1996 MTV Video Awards on September 4, 1996, just 9 days before Tupac died on September 13, 1996.

Nas dissed Biggie on ‘The Message’, the second song on his second album ‘It was Written.’ 2Pac thought the diss was for him so he recorded “Against All Odds.” Later on the two and their peoples met at Radio City Music Hall in New York City during the 1996 MTV Video Awards, at the time when the West Coast and East Coast beef was going on. Nas and Tupac met and spoke that night and they ended up squashing their beef and scheduled to meet each other in Las Vegas.

Me and you are never supposed to go at it. It was just that things got misconstrued” Nas revealed Tupac told him. ‘Me and you are brothers. Me and you are never supposed to go at it. But I heard you was dissing me on mixtapes.’ I’m like, ‘I heard you was dissing me on this [upcoming] Makaveli album.’ You were there, [Steve], you know how none of us could be sitting here, me and you right now because it was a very dangerous situation right there and greater heads prevailed.” Nas revealed in a 2012 interview with Steve Stoute.

Nas was supposed to meet 2Pac in Las Vegas. “I was scheduled to meet him in Vegas; you and Jimmy Iovine called me at 4am and told me he might not..[survive the shooting]. Nas added.
