Future is the first artist to clock 10 million followers on SoundCloud

Future had been leading with SoundCloud followers since June

Future breaks a new record as he becomes the first artist ever to reach 10 million followers on SoundCloud. The Atlanta rapper had been leading since June with 9.92 million followers.

By hitting the new milestone, he outperforms close competitors: Big Sean (9.5 million followers), Young Money (8.47 million followers), Wale (8.32 million followers), Pusha T (8.19 million followers), Big K.R.I.T. (8.06 million followers), and B.o.B (8.05 million followers).

Future has reached the bar despite having not updated his account for 13 months. His most streamed song on the platform is “Trap N*ggas,” which has 96.5 million spins.

“THANK U,” the rapper wrote on his Instagram stories while celebrating the news.

“I feel like I get acknowledged,” Future recently told XXL in an interview while acknowledging the respect he gets in the game. “I am still achieving goals that I have set for myself. And if they give me too much credit now, it ain’t gonna be fair ’cause I am constantly finding ways to evolve and I feel like sometimes you can speak too soon and I don’t want nobody to speak too soon and then curse me. So, just let me work. I understand and I recognize it, but at the end of the day, I am still achieving certain goals that I set out for myself and that’s how I look at it.”

He added, “I can see the impact, but I don’t really dwell on it. Other people might say more about it than me. Like I said, man, [you] always want to create, want to give your audience and your fans a body of music where they can create and they can build ideas from and they can live their life and they can go to using this album for an example for bettering they album or bettering they lifestyle. Whatever it may be. Whatever you get from it.”

Jay-Z and LL Cool J Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021

On October 30, 2021, NYC rappers Jay-Z and LL Cool J were both inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held in Cleveland, OH. They join rap pioneers Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Jay-Z gave the award to the Flash and company in 2007 so this was somewhat of a full-circle moment for Hova.

LL Cool J was an early breakout artist on Def Jam in the 1980s and ’90s. Jay-Z took over the company in the 2000s and a beef led to LL Cool J taking a break from music. Both rappers have hit records for days and some speculate they could make a dynamic Verzuz, although Jay-Z has already stated that nobody can see him in a Verzuz. Congrats to two of the best to ever do it, GOAT level emcees.

  • WC was the Voice Coach for Franklin’s Character on Snowfall

WC was the Voice Coach for Franklin’s Character on Snowfall

British actor Damson Idris plays Franklin Saint on FX’s Snowfall and he owes WC a thank you. If you watch the show you may be surprised because the character sounds like the actor was from Compton or South Central.

This is due in no small part to the voice-coaching talents of California rapper WC. He put it down as an example of what a West Coast gangster accent is supposed to sound like. His voice and slang have been a staple in gangsta rap for decades. Damson shared the story on Kimmel earlier this year.

    Connect Gang Legacy

As part of the Westside Connection, WC was 1/3 of the ’90s rap supergroup that took the world by storm with their hit “Bow Down.” He also had some solo efforts with his crew the Maad Circle. If you notice, this spelling is similar to Kendrick’s album Good Kid M.A.A.D. City.

Snowfall was created by John Singleton and is loosely based on the life of Freeway Ricky Ross, the drug kingpin that Florida rapper Rick Ross borrowed his name from. Season five returns on Feb 23, 2022.

JAY-Z and Kanye West are back working together

Over the last few years, it appeared as though we’d never see the return of the throne — featuring both JAY-Z and Kanye West. Well, today, that all changed.

“This might be the return of the throne,” Jay said during his verse of a Kanye West track that will appear on the DONDA album, set to arrive Friday (July 23).
