Boston rapper Mr. Lif was born in 1977. He has long been an underground favorite with highlights including I, Phantom. Born Jeffrey Haynes, Lif released his first two albums on Definitive Jux in the early 2000s. His thoughtful flow has a long lyrical legacy in rap circles from coast to coast.
El-P produced some of his early work on Def Jux. He is also a touring member of Thievery Corporation and he’s a frequent collaborator with Akrobatik. His family comes from Bajan ancestry.
