Biography
Clive Campbell, also known as DJ Kool Herc was the first Hip-Hop DJ and he is known as the Founding Father of Hip-Hop. DJ Kool Herc was at the first Hip-Hop party on the night of August 11th, 1973 DJing.
DJ Kool Herc created the Breaks.
They called DJ Kool Herc Hercules because of his muscles.
In 1994, DJ Kool Herc received the people’s Hall of Fame Award and Certificate from then Governor Mario Cuomo for creating the roots of Hip-Hop in the City of New York.
In Entertainment Weekly’s May 1999 issue Magazine, EW awarded DJ Kool Herc for “Inventing” Hip-Hop in the Bronx of New York in the 70s.
In 1999, The Source Magazine Hip-Hop Music Awards honored DJ Kool Herc with the “Hip-Hop Pioneer” Award.
