Biography
Grandmaster Flash was born & raised in the Bronx.
Grandmaster Flash pioneered the Backspin technique (or quick-mix theory), Punch phrasing (or clock theory). He also help innovate the Scratching technique after DJ Grandwizzard Theodore, who invented the scratch.
In the late 1970s, Grandmaster Flash created his group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
In 2007, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five became the first Hip-Hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
In 2019, Grandmaster Flash won the Polar Music Prize.
