The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ is now the first album by a black artist to earn 10 billion streams on Spotify


Weeknd continues to dominate Spotify

isn't done breaking new records. This weekend, the Canadian superstar became the first artist to have an album accumulate 10B streams in history, thanks to his blockbuster record, Starboy.

The album was released in 2016 as Weeknd's third studio album via XO and Republic Records. It featured appearances from Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, , and . For production, Weeknd recruited the likes of Diplo, Cashmere Cat, , Frank Dukes, and Labrinth and more.

It became Weeknd's second consecutive No. 1 album after moving 348K equivalent album units in the opening week.
