Dr. Dre was the first hip-hop producer to win a Grammy for Producer of The Year

On the night of February 21, 2001 at the 43rd Grammy Awards, Dr. Dre became the first producer to win a Grammy for Producer of The Year, Non-Classical.

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Bill Bottrell, Nigel Godrich, and Matt Serletic we’re all nominated for the 2001 Producer of The Year Grammy but won mostly because of his work on ’s Grammy-winning 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP.
